Foundations of Faith : Why I Believe. By Rev. Christopher J. Derring ,Th.D
There are four basic foundations of “full Gospel” Christianity. Four everlasting truths that we have based our hopes and faith in. This in which we believe , and the holy scripture in which we base our beliefs upon are these .
1. Jesus Saves
2. Jesus Heals
3. Jesus Delivers
4. Jesus is coming again , Amen
Salvation Through Christ Alone.
23For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God; Romans 3:23
12Wherefore, as by one man sin entered into the world, and death by sin; and so death passed upon all men, for that all have sinned: Romans 5:12
16For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life. John 3:16
12Salvation is found in no one else, for there is no other name under heaven given to men by which we must be saved." Acts 4:12
6Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me. John 14:6
What a glorious hope we have in Christ. Even though we were once sinners, we are now the righteousness of God, excepted in the beloved.
Our sins blotted out forever, and our names written in the lambs book of life.
Physical and Emotional Healing Through Christ.
4Surely he hath borne our griefs (Pain), and carried our sorrows (diseases): yet we did esteem him stricken, smitten of God, and afflicted. 5But he was wounded for our transgressions, he was bruised for our iniquities: the chastisement of our peace was upon him; and with his stripes we are healed. Isaiah 53:4-5 (pain and diseases found in the original Hebrew text)
24Who his own self bare our sins in his own body on the tree, that we, being dead to sins, should live unto righteousness: by whose stripes ye were healed. 1 Peter 2:24
14Is any sick among you? let him call for the elders of the church; and let them pray over him, anointing him with oil in the name of the Lord: 15And the prayer of faith shall save the sick, and the Lord shall raise him up; and if he have committed sins, they shall be forgiven him. James 5:14-15
17And these signs shall follow them that believe....18 they shall lay hands on the sick, and they shall recover. Mark 16:17-18
10God is no respecter of persons Acts 10:34
11For there is no respect of persons with God. Romans 2:11
for there is no iniquity with the LORD our God, nor respect of persons..2 Chronicles 19:7
..... and there is no respect of persons. Colossians 3:25
The great price which Christ paid upon Calvary’s cross. The endured pain and suffering taken upon our Lord and King. The price paid in full on our behalf.
Sin, sickness, pain and disease, from these we were delivered. Upon Christ this burden, He bore, That we would not have to endure it‘s sting. Glory to His name Forever more !
Deliverance Through Christ.
28Come unto me, all ye that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest.
29Take my yoke upon you, and learn of me; for I am meek and lowly in heart: and ye shall find rest unto your souls. 30For my yoke is easy, and my burden is light.
Matthew 11:28-31
2The LORD is my rock, and my fortress, and my deliverer; my God, my strength, in whom I will trust; my buckler, and the horn of my salvation, and my high tower.
Psalm 18:2
6But now we are delivered from the law, that being dead wherein we were held; that we should serve in newness of spirit, and not in the oldness of the letter. Romans 7:6
13Who hath delivered us from the power of darkness, and hath translated us into the kingdom of his dear Son: Colossians 1:13
9The Lord knoweth how to deliver the godly out of temptations, and to reserve the unjust unto the day of judgment to be punished: 2 Peter 2:9
There is a peace that only comes through Christ, A peace which cannot be explained, nor understood by human intellect. In the midst of the fire, during our greatest battles , in the midnight of our seemingly insurmountable trouble , God is with us. We can hear that great cloud of witnesses cheering us on, saying, you can do it , don‘t give up, we are with you. It is this truth that gives us the grace and strength to carry on, through Christ, continually abiding in His Love, which gives us the wonderful peace of God. The peace that passes all understanding.
The Second Coming Of Christ .
15For this we say unto you by the word of the Lord, that we which are alive and remain unto the coming of the Lord shall not prevent them which are asleep. 16For the Lord himself shall descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of the archangel, and with the trump of God: and the dead in Christ shall rise first: 17Then we which are alive and remain shall be caught up together with them in the clouds, to meet the Lord in the air: and so shall we ever be with the Lord. 1 Thessalonians 4:15-17
7For the secret power of lawlessness is already at work; but the one who now holds it back will continue to do so till he is taken out of the way. 8And then the lawless one (the anti-Christ) (amplified version) will be revealed, whom the Lord Jesus will overthrow with the breath of his mouth and destroy by the splendor of his coming. 2 Thessalonians 2:7-8 (NIV)
2That ye may be mindful of the words which were spoken before by the holy prophets, and of the commandment of us the apostles of the Lord and Saviour: 3Knowing this first, that there shall come in the last days scoffers, walking after their own lusts, 4And saying, Where is the promise of his coming? for since the fathers fell asleep, all things continue as they were from the beginning of the creation.5For this they willingly are ignorant 2 Peter 3:2-5
50Now this I say, brethren, that flesh and blood cannot inherit the kingdom of God; neither doth corruption inherit incorruption. 51Behold, I shew you a mystery; We shall not all sleep, but we shall all be changed, 52In a moment, in the twinkling of an eye, at the last trump: for the trumpet shall sound, and the dead shall be raised incorruptible, and we shall be changed. 53For this corruptible must put on incorruption, and this mortal must put on immortality. 54So when this corruptible shall have put on incorruption, and this mortal shall have put on immortality, then shall be brought to pass the saying that is written, Death is swallowed up in victory. 1 Corinthians 15:50-54
30And then shall appear the sign of the Son of man in heaven: and then shall all the tribes of the earth mourn, and they shall see the Son of man coming in the clouds of heaven with power and great glory. 31And he shall send his angels with a great sound of a trumpet, and they shall gather together his elect from the four winds, from one end of heaven to the other. Matthew 24:30-31
There have always been scoffers, there have always been doubters, then and now, they say where is the promise of His coming ?
Where is this so-called rapture ? But as a thief in the night it will come. When they least expect it, It will come. To those who look for His appearing, to them He will Come !
What we believe is as important as why we believe. The four truths of this “Full Gospel” Faith is clearly backed up by the Holy Scriptures.
While not all agree with these four points, the important thing to remember is that God’s word does agree with them. The word of God should be our basis of faith, not the word of men. Which one we believe though, is entirely up to us.
“ God’s word says it, I believe it, That settles it . “ Kenneth E. Hagin
